dr. sc. Mersiha Imamović

Mersiha Imamović was born in 1983 in Tuzla. After completing primary school and the "Ismet Mujezinović" Grammar School (Gimnazija), she enrolled in the History study program at the Faculty of Philosophy, University of Tuzla, where she earned her Bachelor's and subsequently her Master's degree. In 2011, she was appointed as a Teaching Assistant at the same Faculty for the specific scientific field of "Ancient History," and has since been engaged in conducting practical classes for courses within this academic field. Since 2014, she has been permanently employed at the Department of History, Faculty of Philosophy, University of Tuzla, where she defended her doctoral dissertation in 2017. She advanced through the academic ranks of Senior Assistant and Assistant Professor, and currently holds the rank of Associate Professor, lecturing on courses in Ancient History. Since 2019, she has served as the Editor-in-Chief of the journal Historijska misao (Historical Thought), published by the Department of History.
In September 2022, she was appointed Head of the Department of History. The focus of her research to date has primarily been on topics from Late Antiquity in Bosnia and Herzegovina, specifically the Roman province of Dalmatia. In 2019, she led archaeological excavations in Gornja Tuzla, during which a Roman water supply system was discovered. The following year, in 2020, she managed research on ancient roads on Mount Konjuh near Kladanj, which culminated in the discovery of a Roman road and Ottoman caravan routes. She is the author of the exhibition The Territory of Present-Day Bosnia and Herzegovina in the Prehistoric and Ancient Periods. She is also the creator of the event entitled The Latest Discoveries of the Roman Road on Mount Konjuh.
