dr. sc. Denis Bećirović

Denis Bećirović was born in 1975 in Tuzla. He completed his primary and secondary education in Tuzla. In 1998, he graduated from the Faculty of Philosophy, University of Tuzla, earning the title of Professor of History and Geography. He was the first student to graduate from this department. In 2000, he enrolled in postgraduate studies at the Faculty of Philosophy, University of Sarajevo, specializing in the Contemporary History of Bosnia and Herzegovina in the 19th and 20th Centuries. He completed the aforementioned postgraduate studies in 2002 with a grade point average of 9.5. He earned his Master of Historical Sciences degree in June 2004 at the Faculty of Philosophy, University of Sarajevo. In January 2010, he earned his Doctor of Historical Sciences degree at the same institution. Since 2010, he has been engaged at the Faculty of Philosophy, University of Tuzla, holding the rank of Assistant Professor for the specific teaching and scientific field of the "Contemporary Age." He attained the rank of Associate Professor at the Faculty of Philosophy, University of Tuzla, in 2017. He has served as a promoter and reviewer for numerous scientific and professional books. He has actively participated in numerous domestic and international scientific conferences and symposia in historiography and other social sciences. He was a member of the Committee for Historical Sciences of the Academy of Sciences and Arts of Bosnia and Herzegovina from 2011 to 2016. In 2016, his mandate on the Committee was extended for another six years. At the invitation of the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs of the United States, he participated in the United States Department of State's International Visitor Leadership Program titled "The Role of the Legislative Branch" (Washington – New York, October – November 2007). To the mosaic of Denis Bećirović's life, one must add his active participation in the social life of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Among other things, the primary goals of his social engagement have been the affirmation and promotion of human rights and civil liberties, as well as active support for the development of education and science in Bosnia and Herzegovina. For this engagement, he has received several domestic and international recognitions and awards. He is married and a father of two children.
