Sead (Mehmed) Selimović was born on October 14, 1963, in Babina Luka, Bosnia and Herzegovina. He completed his primary education in Tojšići and his secondary education (Gimnazija) in Tuzla. He earned his professional academic title of Professor of History and Geography from the Faculty of Philosophy, University of Tuzla. He completed his postgraduate studies in the History of Bosnia and Herzegovina at the Faculty of Philosophy in Tuzla, where, on November 20, 2003, he defended his master's thesis entitled Bosnia and Herzegovina 1918–1941 in Historical Sources. By defending this thesis, he obtained the academic degree of Master of Social Sciences in the field of History. On December 27, 2007, he received his PhD from the Faculty of Philosophy in Tuzla after successfully defending his doctoral dissertation entitled The School System in Bosnia and Herzegovina from 1918 to 1929. This defense conferred upon him the academic degree of Doctor of Social Sciences in the field of History. He began his professional career at the Tojšići Primary School. From the academic year 1999/2000 until the end of September 2003, he worked as a Teaching Assistant for the specific scientific field of Contemporary History at the Department of History, Faculty of Philosophy, University of Tuzla. From July 1, 2002, to March 31, 2004, he was employed at the Archives of Tuzla Canton. On April 1, 2004, he joined the Department of History at the Faculty of Philosophy, University of Tuzla, as a Senior Assistant for the specific scientific field of the "Contemporary Age." He was appointed to the rank of Assistant Professor for the Contemporary Age on April 23, 2008, and advanced to the rank of Associate Professor on April 4, 2013. He has authored and co-authored several dozen scientific and professional papers in the field of historical sciences. He is a member of the editorial boards for the history journals Saznanja (Issues 1–5), Arhivska praksa (Issues 5–21), and Historijska misao (Issues 1–3). He serves as the Editor-in-Chief of the journal Historijski pogledi (Historical Views), published by the Center for Research on Modern and Contemporary History Tuzla.
